End of days…Really, I believe.
People ask me about the end of days, “is it going to happen?” they ask. Honestly don’t people THINK? Don’t they SEE what is happening in the world today? Do they all go around with their eyes shut? I often wonder how much people actually absorb when they watch TV or read newspapers. I think there is a sort of immunity to nasty events in the world, a bit of, “it doesn’t affect me so why should I bother?” attitude.
My neighbor is a prime example, he saw a hit and run the other day and told me, in way too much detail, that he saw it all. Even knew the car reg he said. He told no one!! Except me and maybe his cronies at the local drinking hole. I said go to the police help the victims family get closure. “Not getting involved” was his answer. Unbelievable!
In Matthew 25: 31-46 Jesus talks about what will happen to us when he comes again, we will be judged, “…..“Whenever you failed to help any of my people, no matter how unimportant they seemed, you failed to do it for me.” So all we do or not do in our everyday life will be judged. I think It’s not about leaving it all to a hero or superhero as the current films seem to promote but about how I behave everyday with the people I meet. It’s not easy, like with the women who pinched my parking spot the other day, I fair told her what I thought but I try, I like to think my helping at the homeless shelter helps me be a better Christian and Jesus will forgive my failures as long as I try and own them and ask for forgiveness.
So I leave this post today with this,
“For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Mark 11: 25-26.
